Summary
I have managed the Information Technology Services unit in North Karelia Polytechnic, the IP Technology / Advanced Services group in Nokia Networks and the Information Systems Services group in The Finnish Forest Research Institute.
I have been responsible for budgeting, financial agreements and purchase of information technology and telecommunication equipment and software.
I have led the project that was responsible for outsourcing the maintenance of North Karelia Polytechnic's information network. I have made the IT and Information Management strategy for the years 2003-2007.
In Nokia Networks, I have led the system integration and verification project and managed the development of element testing tools and integration testing tools. I was involved in defining the gateway architecture for the 3G ALL-IP user plane and other future wireless and fixed access networks and defining the gateway product family together with product management. I also participated to addressing the requirements and characteristics of gateway products.
While working as a Program Manager my tasks included managing the planning of the product offering for GPRS/3G backbone networks and defining the GPRS/3G IP backbone network architecture. I was responsible for creating documentation for GPRS core network pre-releases and addressed the requirements of full-scale production networks in operator environments.
Together with management team I have been responsible for the maintenance and development of the Nokia Networks Helsinki-Espoo laboratory network infrastructure. I have been involved in the evaluation, testing and verification of new internetworking and IP security equipment and products. My tasks have included the maintenance and development of the Department of Usage of Forests / Helsinki Research Centre LAN infrastructure. I have worked as a Network Administrator, Security Administrator, Windows NT network administrator and Ultrix and DEC Pathworks network administrator.

Major Projects
- In North Karelia Polytechnic 2002, I led the project that was responsible for outsourcing the maintenance of North Karelia Polytechnic's information network.
- In Nokia Networks 2001, I led the System Integration and Verification project that was responsible for verifying the success of combining the FlexiGateway system components and testing the entire gateway in its intended environments. I also managed the development of element testing tools and integration testing tools related to IP-based 3GPP gateway platform testing.
- In Nokia Networks 2000-2001, I participated in creating the gateway Product Requirement Document and the gateway Product Architecture Document for the 3G ALL-IP user plane and other future wireless and fixed access networks. I was involved in defining the gateway product family together with product management. I was involved in the acquisition of Amber Networks in July 2001.
- In Nokia Networks 2000, I worked as a Program Manager for GPRS/3G IP backbone networks. My tasks included managing the planning of the product offering for GPRS/3G backbone networks and defining the GPRS/3G IP backbone network architecture. I was responsible for inter alia revising and updating the Cookbook: Implementing the GPRS IP Backbone documentation and addressed the requirements of full-scale production networks in operator environments.
- In Nokia Telecommunications / Nokia Networks 1998-2000, I participated in the LABNET project that modelled the inter-operator backbone network. The LABNET laboratory network project aimed at developing a high-quality multipurpose laboratory network environment using Nokia's datacom products and the latest IP technology. I worked as a laboratory network Security Administrator, and later on, as a Nokia Networks Helsinki-Espoo laboratory network Network Administrator as well.
- In Nokia Telecommunications / Nokia Networks 1998-1999, I participated in the Piimäki project which was implemented in the Pitäjänmäki area as a Metro area backbone network using the Gigabit Ethernet technology. The project piloted a secure method for constructing distance education and extranet connections between various organisations. The main emphasis was on the Gigabit Ethernet technology and billing and identification methods based on smart cards and CA systems.
- In Nokia Telecommunications / Nokia Networks 1998-1999, I participated in the examining VPN and PKI products and their use in WLAN networks. I was involved in the acquisition of security software business from TeamWARE Group in December 1999.
- In Nokia Telecommunications 1997-1998, I participated in the RemoteWork project that evaluated the VPN products and smart card systems of the time and piloted them as an ADSL solution at Nokia.
- In The Finnish Forest Research Institute 1996, I participated in updating the Metsätalo's microcomputer network from a Ultrix and DEC Pathworks network to the Windows NT network. I managed the update of Helsinki Research Centre's microcomputer network from a Ultrix and DEC Pathworks network to the Windows NT network.
- In The Finnish Forest Research Institute 1995, I participated in the IUFRO-95 World Congress Information System Team. I managed the moving of Helsinki Research Centre's dedicated microcomputers to the Congress place.
